Robert Egan Obituary
Robert Barnola Egan
05/05/1941 – 04/28/2026
Robert Barnola “Bob” Egan, 84, passed on April 28, 2026, following an unexpected 13-day hospital stay with pneumonia.
Bob lived as though ordinary was never quite enough. He was a husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and a servant of God. He was born on May 5, 1941, in Flushing, NY, to Robert John Egan and Mary Barnola Egan, who passed when Bob was young. He was raised by his aunt and uncle, Ruth and Wes Egan.
He attended Oyster Bay High School, Long Island, and The University of Texas at Austin, graduating in 1963 with a Bachelor of Arts in Economics with a minor in Accounting. At UT, he was a member of the water basketball team and was President of the UT choir.
Bob began his professional life in Houston, TX, as a CPA at Haskins & Sells. He moved from there to Scurlock Oil Co. before spending 25-plus years as Chief Financial Officer of Hollywood Marine, Inc. He then consulted for several companies.
A cradle Episcopalian, Bob’s faith was active, generous, and community-driven. He served as President of Kairos of Texas and was active in the Diocese of Texas Cursillo Ministry.
Bob loved sudoku, solitaire, music, singing, the theatre, fine food and wine, and traveling the world. He loved to dance, cook, and entertain. He was a scholar, a leader, an avid skier, and he loved playing golf. His favorite pastime was cheering on the University of Texas Longhorns for 65 years, holding 50-yard-line season tickets to the football games.
He served on the University of Texas Liberal Arts Advisory Board, was President of the Houston International Food and Wine Society, and was a member of Chaine des Rotisseurs. He served as President of Eagle Valley Religious Foundation in Edwards, CO. In every city he called home, Houston and Sugar Land, TX, Cordillera, CO, and Spicewood, TX. Bob led, served, and gave generously.
Bob is survived by his beloved wife of 37 years, Linda Duncan Egan; daughter, Chesley Egan Martin (Charles) and their children, Alec Egan (Claire), Meghan Martin, Maredith Martin Voss (Jayton) and grandchildren, Roosevelt and Anders Egan. Son, Robert Egan (Sarah), and their children, Noah, Josiah, and Lily Egan. Brother Wesley Egan (Virginia), brother-in-law, Steve Duncan, and a wide, cherished circle of family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Mary Egan; brothers, Douglas and Bruce Egan; and aunt and uncle, Ruth and Wes Egan.
A Memorial Service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Central Time (9:00 a.m. Mountain Time) on Tuesday, June 30, 2026, at Trinity Episcopal Church, Marble Falls, TX. In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes donations to Edwards Interfaith Chapel and Community Center, PO Box 1828, Edwards, CO 81632.
