Holy Monday

Holy Monday.  Hmm.  Nothing worshipful scheduled today.  The calm before the storm they say.  A great day to catch up, make calls, shoot off emails, text my thumbs off, write this message, super-pastor you, work out, shop, read my various devotionals quickly for efficient catching up, wash, clean, update finances….er, ah, ahem….or not.  For believers Holy Monday functions like a sabbath day for the week, before we get into later week intense.  The Hebrew verb does NOT mean to rest.  It literally means “STOP!!”  I stink at stopping.  If I stop I may have to reflect on the enormity of this week and what Jesus’ actions mean for my life.  Goodbye email.  Sayonara laptop.  Bu-bye laundry.  Hello STOP!  If we had a gift of just one day to not run the world…wait, but we do.  I’m working on my stop today….and you?!
