Rejoice with us!  I am pleased to announce that Miss Rebecca Cotton has accepted my call to serve as the next Youth Minister for the Episcopal Church of the Transfiguration, Vail Valley.  Rebecca will join our staff in a full-time capacity on or before July 1st.

Rebecca was born and raised in the Vail Valley and in ECOT!  She served as a veteran sacristan, acolyte trainer, lay eucharistic minister and Sunday School teacher in our church before her graduation from Battle Mountain High School with highest honors in 2013.  She chose Transfiguration as her career semester internship site, learning valuable lessons in professional ministry before graduating high school!

Rebecca is graduating this weekend with honors from the College of Literature, Science and the Arts at the University of Michigan, having earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology and minoring in Mathematics.  She completed an independent research project focusing upon global warming to earn her honors designation.  Rebecca also served as a lay minister and small group leader in her college congregation throughout her college career.  She is the first scientist to serve on our church staff.

Rebecca will lead, craft and oversee a total ministry program to ECOT’s teenaged youth and their families, as well as serving students in our community beyond our congregation.  We are excited to re-build a premier congregational youth ministry featuring personal pastoral care, substantive spiritual formation, fun gatherings, mission and outreach activities, and transformational Christian worship for our young people.  Rebecca’s leadership will help us fulfill our shared mission, to know Jesus Christ and make Him known, with our youth.  Welcome aboard Rebecca!
