Holy Terror! He is Risen, the Lord Is Risen Indeed! The first Easter I served you, our Rector Father Bruce Moncrieff sent me up to preach the Eagle’s Nest Easter Sunrise service neglecting to mention the 700 other enthusiastic worshippers coming along. I almost fainted when I saw the packed room! I was terrified! And that about sums up the various Marys’ reactions to the Empty Tomb and the Risen Christ….all the angelic visitors, and Jesus Himself, must tell them to not faint from terror! We are WAY beyond recovery, rehabilitation, restoration, reconstitution, reanimation or resuscitation! We are far beyond the technical meaning of “religion,” a compound word meaning to be reconnected or literally re-ligamented together. Nope, nyet, nada, nein, non, lo (Hebrew), la (Arabic), chan (Gaelic)….this is SO much more! This is Resurrection, a new and revolutionary way of living, a trans-physical existence only available through the sacred death and divine life of Jesus as our Savior, our Lord and our Friend! Everything old has become New! Death no longer the final word of existence! Adam and Eve restored to the Garden but no more serpents! Living water, the bread come down from heaven, the Good Shepherd for all people, the Sheepgate, the First and Final Word of all creation….all that and even more!
